Water Level Madre de Dios at CICRA

Water Level Madre de Dios at CICRA
The level of the Madre de Dios River at the Centro de Investigación y Capacitación Rio Los Amigos boat landing. River level is measured relative to an arbitrarily established zero point.
The level of the Madre de Dios River at the CICRA station boat landing was recorded twice daily starting on August 28, 2001. River level is measured relative to an arbitrarily established zero point, via wooden stakes placed in the current (see photographs). From August 2001 to November 2003, readings were carried out as part of Michael Goulding and colleagues' research on aquatic ecosystems in the region; since then they have been continued by CICRA staff. The benchmarks for determining the relative zero of the measuring system are marked in permanent marker on the northwestern post of the platform at the port.
